A sitemap is a guide to a Web site, a concise listing of pages to help you find what you are looking for. Some sitemaps span multiple Web sites.
An HTML sitemap is a normal Web page. You can load it into your browser and click on the links. HTML sitemap pages help people navigate through large, complex Web sites.
An XML sitemap is a special document used by search engines to find Web pages that may have few links pointing to them. Your browser may be able to view an XML sitemap but the file is intended only for search engines.
A TXT sitemap is a text file containing a list of pages. Some people lack the ability to create XML sitemaps so the search engines will accept TXT sitemaps to help them crawl large Web sites.
